Being safe means many things, such as living in a safe community, or living in a safe home. This section explores what you can do to create a safe environment for you and your family.
First, let’s look at your home environment and what can be done to make it safe. The most important and obvious item is locking your doors and windows to your home. It is truly amazing how many people still do not do this.
It is also a great idea to know your neighbors. Introduce yourself and your family to your neighbors around you. Having your neighbors know who you are and which home you are in is just as important and you knowing them and where they live. This helps by being on the lookout for strangers in your area.
Next, you’ll want to make sure your property is properly taken care of, this includes not only lawn care and such, but also having landscape lighting if possible. If you park outside, please lock your vehicles. Don’t let yourself become a statistic.
Finally, ensure that you have an alarm system. If you can, having an alarm system with camera’s is preferred. Your alarm system should also be connected to the police and fire departments and monitored by a company such as ADT.

Pasco County has outsourced its crime reporting to an external agency. However, it allows you to put in either a street address, community or zip code to see all the activity for that area.
